On May 21st, the British anthropologist Tim Ingold participates live in the third of six meetings of the journey Law, Sustainability and Human Development in the Anthropocene, held by ESMPU. The meeting opens the Mycelial Tetralogy — Movement I: the inclusion of Law in the Sustainability becoming — and has a public, free, and global broadcast via the youtube.com/escolampu channel.

Tim Ingold
International Guest
Tim Ingold
Anthropologist · University of Aberdeen, Scotland
One of the most influential thinkers in contemporary anthropology. In works such as Being Alive, Old Ways, New People, and The Rise and Fall of Generation Now, he proposes that learning is walking together — that people and environments grow along the same lines of life. His concepts of meshwork and wayfaring now reach the field of Law and Sustainability.
Val Sant'Anna
Methodnomology
Val Sant'Anna
IDG Ambassador · Monsoon Cohort | To.be... Being
Creator of the Mycelial Law Tetralogy and the To.be... Being methodology — where method and phenomenon co-emerge. The journey begins with attention to the skills of the Inner Development Goals and flows in meshwork and wayfaring, as proposed by Ingold. Knowledge, as the Persian alchemist Jabir ibn Hayyan taught — is in the air, in the ether. No one discovers. Someone channels.
Ressonâncias que sustentam a jornada
Nego Bispo dos Santos
Existence not as an arrow but as a wheel — beginning, middle, and beginning. The circularity inhabited by Mycelial Law.
Martinho da Vila
The old woman who consoles · the young woman who dances · the child who cries. Three generations in a circle — transgenerationality in samba.
Jabir ibn Hayyan
8th-century Persian alchemist: "Knowledge without practice is useless, and practice without knowledge is dangerous."
Core Concepts · Tim Ingold
Meshwork
A living tangle of relationships — unlike a "network," meshwork has no fixed nodes or centers. It is the continuous fabric of intertwining lines: people, territories, knowledge, and generations in permanent formation. Mycelial Law is meshwork — like the fungus that sustains the soil underneath, invisible, connecting what seems separate.
Wayfaring
Walking along the lines of life — not a path from A to B, but the continuous movement that constitutes the one who walks. Learning is wayfaring: you don't arrive at a destination, you grow along the way. The 6-meeting journey is wayfaring — each participant is simultaneously student and master, in attention, present in the circle.

What is Mycelial Law?
The Mycelial Tetralogy proposes the inclusion of Law in the Sustainability becoming. Movement I starts from the debate about nature as a subject of rights (Wild Law) in the Anthropocene — a time characterized by institutional and ecological collapse. It proposes a movement beyond positive Law: orienting the State-form, as we know it today, towards listening to ancestral knowledge, Amerindian, and Afro-diasporic cosmovisions — intersecting with the listening of those yet to be born (UNESCO Pact for Future Generations).
A movement beyond positive Law: orienting the State-form so that norm, value, and social fact co-emerge and sustain the current human, conscious that they are with nature, not over it. The hermeneutics required by the Anthropocene.
Pedagogical material of the journey
Art · Culture · Philosophy
Cinema, manga, music, literature, visual arts, performance… they integrate the journey not as an illustration — but as a constitutive part of living-together. Any participant can suggest the material — produced now or centuries ago, consecrated or emerging. In the circle, Martinho da Vila's samba or an essay by Ingold or even the wisdom of Nego Bispo or a legal article simply flow... There is no hierarchy of knowledge. There is attention.
Art in all its amplitude
Current and past, high and popular, local and global — cinema, manga, music, literature, visual arts, performance. Art as episteme: a way of knowing, feeling, and being in the world
Ancestral knowledge, Amerindian and Afro-diasporic Cosmovisions
Knowledge independent of cartography or ethnography — the earth as a living being, time as a spiral. The axé that circulates, the wheel that doesn't stop, the present ancestry wherever life happens
Expressions of Brazilian Culture

To.be... Being — people-based solution

While "nature-based solutions" are discussed, the journey proposes a people-based solution. The To.be... Being methodology adopts Art, culture, and philosophy as pedagogical material — suggested by any participant. Student and master are in attention, present, in the circle. Hierarchical and verticalized transmission is discarded.

Everything begins with the Pause — the inaugural event that interrupts digital hyperconnection. From there, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating, and Acting co-emerge. And Being? Being is what, in wayfaring, happens throughout the journey — in the 'gira', in the wheel of life.

The fourth and final movement of the Tetralogy — the Germ Cell — practices theory as a transgenerational lifelong learning framework, inspired by SDG 4 (Quality Education): the formation of global citizenship for all — including adults who have already left school and, above all, those who were never in it.

The journey is a production of ESMPU — Higher School of the Public Prosecution Service of the Union, under the coordination of Adriana Santos and General Management by Raquel Branquinho, open to the general public — whose third meeting, on May 21st, will be broadcast to the world.
